{"id":26,"date":"2009-02-03T08:58:45","date_gmt":"2009-02-03T06:58:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mariusb.net\/blog\/2009\/02\/vodacom-3g-on-ubuntu-810\/"},"modified":"2009-02-03T08:58:53","modified_gmt":"2009-02-03T06:58:53","slug":"vodacom-3g-on-ubuntu-810","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mariusb.net\/blog\/2009\/02\/vodacom-3g-on-ubuntu-810\/","title":{"rendered":"Vodacom 3G on Ubuntu 8.10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I was running Ubuntu 8.04 I used Vodafone Connect Driver for Linux which worked but not great.&nbsp; When I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 I continued using this driver till yesterday when I managed to get connecting through Network Manager.&nbsp; By default Network Manager picks up the card properly but did not want to connect since it did not pass the PIN to the card before connection.&nbsp; All I had to do is put the following in my \/etc\/wvdial.conf.<br \/><code><br \/>[Dialer Defaults]<br \/>Init1 = ATZ<br \/>Init2 = AT+CPIN=xxxx<br \/>modem=\/dev\/ttyUSB0<br \/><\/code><br \/>where xxxx is your PIN.
