And if you\u2019re a <strong>Project Manager, Program Manager, or Scrum Master<\/strong>, you\u2019ve probably felt it too\u2014that quiet pressure as AI tools get smarter, faster, and more capable.<\/p>\n<p>But the more I\u2019ve actually <em>used<\/em> AI in my day-to-day work, the clearer it\u2019s become:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>AI isn\u2019t going to replace me. But it <em>is<\/em> going to change how I work.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr>\n<h2>&#x2699;&#xfe0f; Let\u2019s Be Honest: AI Is Already Good at Parts of My Job<\/h2>\n<p>There are parts of my role that AI absolutely handles better (or at least faster) than I do:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#x1f4dd; Writing meeting notes and summaries<\/li>\n<li>&#x1f4ca; Generating status reports<\/li>\n<li>&#x1f4cc; Updating tickets and documentation<\/li>\n<li>&#x26a0;&#xfe0f; Highlighting potential risks in project data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Stuff that used to take hours now takes minutes.<\/p>\n<p>And honestly? That\u2019s a win.<\/p>\n<p>Because while that work is necessary, it\u2019s not where I add the most value.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2>&#x1f9e0; But That\u2019s Not Really the Job, Is It?<\/h2>\n<p>If you read a typical job description, you\u2019d think my role is all about timelines, tracking, and process.<\/p>\n<p>But in reality, the job looks more like this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Aligning teams that don\u2019t agree<\/li>\n<li>Managing stakeholders with competing priorities<\/li>\n<li>Making decisions with incomplete information<\/li>\n<li>Keeping momentum when things get messy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That\u2019s the real work.<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s not something you can just automate.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2>&#x1f465; Projects Don\u2019t Fail Because of Tools<\/h2>\n<p>Here\u2019s something I\u2019ve learned the hard way:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Projects don\u2019t fail because of bad tools \u2014 they fail because of people problems.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Things like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Communication breakdowns<\/li>\n<li>Misaligned expectations<\/li>\n<li>Lack of trust<\/li>\n<li>Delayed or avoided decisions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>AI can help surface issues\u2014but it doesn\u2019t fix human dynamics.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s still on me.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2>&#x1f4c9; AI Can Spot Problems \u2014 But Not Solve Them<\/h2>\n<p>AI is great at pattern recognition.<\/p>\n<p>It can tell me:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThis project is behind schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Helpful? Yes.<\/p>\n<p>But it won\u2019t:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have a difficult conversation with a struggling team member<\/li>\n<li>Convince a stakeholder to change direction<\/li>\n<li>Make a judgment call when the data isn\u2019t clear<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That\u2019s where experience, context, and emotional intelligence come in.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2>&#x26a0;&#xfe0f; The Real Risk: Becoming a Low-Value PM<\/h2>\n<p>Let\u2019s be honest for a second.<\/p>\n<p>If your role is mostly:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Running standups<\/li>\n<li>Updating Jira tickets<\/li>\n<li>Sending status updates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Then yes\u2014AI might replace a large chunk of what you do.<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s not a great version of the role anyway.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>The real risk isn\u2019t AI.
