HTC One X soon in South Africa

As I posted before, I am due for a new cellphone and top of the list is the HTC One X.  I have just noticed that it will be at MTN soon.  See front cover of the May 1-17 MTN Catalog

Now lets just hope that it is actually in the stores also.

OK I’m very excited for the One X, but just noticed the ‘lightening-fast web browsing’ spelling mistake in the pic above, so seriously doubting the validity of this… anyhoo!! will wait and see… Techhuman on this link – http://www.techhuman.com/2012/04/review-htc-one-x-the-emperor-of-android/ had said “The HTC One X will be available from Vodacom from the 7th of May 2012 and all the other mobile networks in South Africa soon thereafter.”

So not sure who to believe… Its been a long wait, am tired now. Just get here One X!!

I just ordered my phone today at MTN, Ported my vodacom number as well. Was a bit skeptical when i first the Add here but the it is advertised sam as above. MTN said it will take 3 to 4 days to collect.

Here is what vodacom told me when i emailed them yesterday:

    Dear Ritesh

    Thank you for your e-mail.

Please be advised that the approval of any new handset on the cellular network is determined by the test it undergoes.

I do not find the mentioned device on any of our lists and can not confirm whether it will be launched on the Vodacom Network.

I Just contacted MTN Clear water, they confirm this ad is legit.
    They are currently waiting stock.

  4. Boogalum says:

MTN in Fourways Mall have these sitting in their storeroom. Went in and signed up yesterday (Ported from Vodacom) and they say if the port is approved I can pick up the phone today.

I tried Vodacom and Cell C, but as Ritesh says, they both have no clue if or when they will get the phone.

P.S. MTN only have the grey One X available (no white, or other One versions)

Got mine (the grey one) yesterday at MTN store in Canal Walk, Cape Town.

anyone know if it will be available in white in SA

    cheers

  7. Nick says:

So, whats the verdict on the One X?

Is it worth getting or should I wait for the SIII?

  8. admin says:

    Hi Nick

Got my One X about a week and a half ago and I am very happy with it. It is snappy and Sense 4 is so much better than Sense 3.x

Also the camera is amazing and with all the memory one does not have to worry what one install.

And it probably has the best screen for any phone out there .. from reviews it seems it is better than the SIII.

Since getting the phone, already had 2 System Software updates.

The only thing you going to get from the SIII is microSD card and slightly bigger battery.

You will love your One X.

Hey guys, I ordered on from MTN a week ago, but the say the contract is still processing. They said it would only take two days. Please can anyone let me know if this is a common thing because of our nationality or what?

  10. Nick says:

Thanks Marius, I’ve currently got the Desire (same as you had) and am also with MTN. Just waiting for them to get stock and then I’ll probably join in getting the One X then.

Apparently there were some issues between Leaf and HTC and they are only bringing in the One X and the Flyer? But the fact that you are getting system updates is promising.

Jonathan, this kind of a wait is typical of certain MTN stores. I ordered the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 on their special and waited over a month. During this time they said there wasn’t stock and gave me all sorts of other excuses. In the end it was the store that was useless. I spoke to the guys at Hyde Park and they sorted me out, right as rain, in less than 1 day.

  11. Jonathan says:

Thanks Nick, it does make sense because I live in Giyani, which is basically like SA’s Chernobyl. The thing is they have stock, but the application just keeps on saying processing…

Hi. Ordered my HTC One X from MTN Blue Route on Saturday, ported my number from Vodacom and collected my phone today. No problems!
Busy charging but can’t wait to get going! Anyone know where you can buy protectors, sleeves etc in Cape Town for these phones?
